  1. My friend says prov1 is best for short game compared to the 1x.. is he correct or does it differ from player to player?

I don't know about that, but what I do know is the prov1 is far softer. I really enjoy and prefer the feel of the V1 over the V1x. They both spin very well around the greens. So to answer your question, it depends on the player's preference. I'd do a side-by-side comparison.

Titleist golf ball fitting begins with your performance objectives and personal preferences. To do this, you can attend a ball fitting event or talk to your golf professional.

I thought the Prov1x was the right ball for me until I went to see a Titleist expert and now I am playing the Prov1. When in doubt see a Titleist pro.

The V1 does feel softer for most people, however, the V1x spins just a touch more around the greens. I like the feel of the X better and the ball flight. And I personally have also found that I can spin the ball harder around the greens with the V1x compared to the V1. But like commented above I would recommend play both side-by-side and compare and make the decision yourself.

I've played both - the newer versions are both great around the greens. The feel of the Pro V1 is softer and is the reason that I go with it all other things considered. A little extra spin with the irons - especially long and mid irons - wins out.

The pro Ambassadors are split - so it really is an individual choice. I've had some swing changes, club changes, and Titleist has released a couple of editions since I was last fit for a ball. I'll be looking for a fitting this year to see if 1x is still fits me best.

I have a 75 mph driver swing speed and have tried both. The V1 and V1x both seem to have about the same carry, they land and finish about the same distance on soft fairways, but on firmer fairways the V1 rolls out about 10 more yards. I believe it is because of the more penetrating flight, and since I have quite a high launch anyway I don't think I need more height. As far as green side spin the V1x stops a bit quicker, but since me and a lot of us mid-high handicappers usually come up short of the pin, a little more forward roll does not hurt. One other thing, I seem able to curve the V1 easier. I hope this helps.

I went from V1 for years to V1x and really enjoy the ball flight and distance I'm getting. I noticed it the first round with them. I can still spin them well around the greens as I did the V1's.

Sadly my nearest Titleist PRO is about 1500km away so i just have to make my own mind up ,Presently use the prov 1x but thinking of going back to the Pro v1 due to climate and the course conditions close to the coast . Greens are receptive even a 4 iron shot can land softly. My choice is the Prov 1 as it feels better from the face of my scotty .

I'm never sure which one to play either. I am a low ball hitter so the V1X would seem to make sense because it launches higher. But at the same time I don't generate a lot of driver spin which also helps keep the ball in the air so V1 makes sense here. Swing Speed 97-99 mph; ball speed 145-147 mph. I currently have played the V1X the last 3 years, but do like the feel of the V1 better. Index 3.3

I've played both of the new models this year (10 plus rounds with each). I like the soft feel of the V1 off the driver and irons and I really like its feel off the putter. Having said that, I hit more greens with V1x and it stops quicker on approach shots and chips. It's also longer off the tee for me. So I play the V1x.

I've played 10 rounds with each ball. I like the feel of the V1 off the driver and irons. I also really like the V1's soft feel off the putter. The V1x is longer for me off the tee, about the same distance with FW and long irons. I hit more greens with V1x. It also stops quicker on my approach shots, pitches and chips. Most importantly I score better with the V1x.
