Dipping through impact?

  1. I am having trouble maintaining posture through my downswing and impact. I hit the ball solid, but it looks really weird. As I start my downswing, my shoulders drop towards my hips and continues through impact. I also am making contact leaning behind the ball. Does anyone have any suggestions on why this is happening or how to fix it? I'm 6'4 but all my clubs are custom fit so I don't think it has to do with my height.

    Thanks!

Put a chair, golf bag, or anything that is the right height behind your rear. Keep touching it all the way from Setup to Impact. That may help.

You could also make something out of PVC. Michael Breed calls it his "Breed Bar". I made one and use it when I move too much.

Dipping on the downswing isn't bad a lot of great golfers have done it: Tiger, Sam Snead, Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson.

I wonder if there are other issues at bay - ie not opening your hips or shoulders being to closed

B.A. and Rob_Roth1 have both hit on key points. I would just go see the best instructor in your area you can afford and have them look at your swing. They may see something else you are not aware of. Good luck!! If you can, go to YouTube and look at Byron Nelson's swing. He really dipped down!!

Check your balance at address, when my timing or swing is off I'll slow everything down, then start my downswing with right shoulder (rear) heading towards golf ball (not down) at the finish of my backswing, this move helps me get my timing & balance back. This also helps with weight shift, turning hips, get club on plane etc
