Looking to reshaft my ZB forged irons, I was fitted with the Project X 6.0's which are a great shaft, however the question is when picking them out, what is the difference between flighted vs non-flighted?  I figured this would be a good fall project for a do-it-yourself-er.

    Thanks!

The "flighted" shafts will have a lower ball flight in the shorter irons, and a higher ball flight in the long irons.  Non-flighted shafts are all standard ball flight.  Most better golfers prefer the added control of the flighted shafts in their scoring clubs (8-9-PW).

Really appreciate the information and flighted will be the way to go!  Thanks MMHarmon32!

Also, you should go with the shaft you were fitted to. If it was the flighted then go with the flighted.  They are completely different shafts from a physical standpoint.

I would only go to the flighted if you need help getting the long irons in the air.  I just changed to the 6.0s they're awesome shafts. And to answer your question about the actual difference, the flex points are moved around in order to produce high launch with the long irons and lower launch with the shorter irons.  The flighted shafts tend to play "softer".
