A major triumph for Broadhurst in Senior Open Championship debut

It was a Titleist golf ball 1-2 finish at the Senior Open Championship where Titleist golf ball loyalist Paul Broadhurst (Pro V1) edged Scott McCarron (Pro V1x) by two shots.

It marked the first career major for Broadhurst who was playing in his first Senior Open.

Calling it “the biggest achievement of my life,” the 50-year-old Englishman, who won six times on the European Tour, closed with consecutive 4-under-par 68’s on the weekend at Carnoustie en route to an 11-under-par 277 victory total.

“This is bigger than all of those wins,” said Broadhurst, who also competed for the European Team in the 1991 Ryder Cup. “A lot, lot bigger. It’s absolutely massive. I played some of my best golf this week.”

McCarron fired a final round 3-under-par 69 to move up four spots and secure his runner-up finish.

THE COUNTS: Titleist was the top golf ball choice at the Senior Open Championship with 110 players trusting a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than nine times the nearest competitor with 12.

Titleist Vokey Design Wedges also topped the approach, sand and lob wedge category (91).

Broadhurst's win marks the 14th for Titleist on the PGA TOUR Champions this season.
