Six-Win Week Advances Titleist’s 2005 Victory Count to 119.

Fairhaven, MA (September 5, 2005) – Golf is a global sport. And one of the things that unifies it is the overwhelming trust players place in the superior performance of Titleist golf balls. Six more wins this week advances Titleist's victory count across the worldwide professional tours to 119, more than four times the nearest competitor with 25, and more than all other golf balls combined.

Retief Goosen
Retief Goosen led the Titleist victory parade with a wire-to-wire performance playing the Pro V1x at the China Masters. Goosen set the Jinghua Golf Club course record with an opening round 8-under 64, which he tied on Sunday to finish at 22-under 266, six strokes clear of the 2005 U.S. Open champion. The win was the second of the year for Goosen, who rallied last month to win The International in Colorado.

PGA TOUR: At the Deutsche Bank Championship, Titleist topped the golf ball count with 113 players, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 15, and was also the choice of more players in the iron (35), utility iron (4), wedge (118) and putter (60) categories. Full-line Titleist staff player Jason Bohn, relying upon a Pro V1x golf ball, new Titleist Pro Titanium 905 driver, Pro Trajectory 904F 3-wood, Forged 670 irons, Vokey Design sand wedge and Spin Milled lob wedge, and a Scotty Cameron prototype putter, finished one stroke back in his effort for a second victory this year. Bohn earned his first career PGA Tour title at the B.C. Open in July. Bohn, who was the only player in the field to shoot four consecutive rounds in the 60s (68-68-67-68), finished first in putts per greens in regulation (1.592) and 5th in putts per round (26.8). He also finished among the top 15 in driving accuracy (T11/71.4%) and driving distance (14th/305.8).

PGA EUROPEAN TOUR: The champion, who ranks #6 in the world and relies upon the Pro V1x for his success, holed out for eagle on the 18th on Saturday and chipped in for birdie on the 16th hole Sunday, propelling him to a one-stroke win at the European Masters. He closed with a 3-under 68 en route to a 14-under-par 270 total, marking his second victory of the season. Titleist topped the golf ball count with 116 players in the 156-player field, more than six times the nearest competitor (18). Titleist players have accumulated 20 victories on the 2005 PGA European Tour, more than all other golf balls combined.

LPGA TOUR: Pat Hurst earned her fourth career LPGA Tour title, capturing the State Farm Classic after shooting a final round 2-under 70 to finish at 17-under 271. Hurst topped defending champion Cristie Kerr by three shots. Natalie Gulbis and Heather Bowie tied for third as Titleist Pro V1 players secured the top four positions on the leaderboard. More than four times as many players relied upon Titleist golf balls (111 players) than the nearest competitor (23) at the State Farm Classic. Titleist has been the golf ball of choice for 16 champions on the 2005 LPGA Tour, including the last nine in a row.

CHAMPIONS TOUR: Hale Irwin tallied four birdies over his final eight holes to shoot a 4-under 68 and win the First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. Relying upon the Pro V1 golf ball, Irwin finished at 13-under par 203 to win by a stroke over three players, including second round co-leader Gil Morgan (Pro V1x) and Morris Hatalsky (Pro V1). The win was Irwin's third of the season and it extended his Champions Tour career victory mark to 43. Titleist topped the golf ball count with 56 players, more than four times the nearest competitor with 12. The victory was the 18th for Titleist players through the first 22 events of 2005, including the last seven in a row.

NATIONWIDE TOUR: In just his third career start, Peter Tomasulo captured the Alberta Classic for his first Nationwide Tour victory. The former University of California standout and Pro V1x player set a course record with a 10-under 61 on Friday and finished the tournament at 9-under par 275, two shots clear of Aaron Barber (Pro V1). Nathan Green (Pro V1) and David McKenzie (Pro V1x) tied for third as Titleist swept the top four positions on the leaderboard. Titleist players have won 18 of the 23 events played on the 2005 Nationwide Tour, more than four times the nearest competitor with 4. Overall, more than 10 times as many players relied upon Titleist golf balls (108) than the nearest competitor (10) at the Alberta Classic. Titleist was also the overwhelming top choice of players in the iron (39), utility iron (8), wedge (159) and putter (53) categories.

JAPAN TOUR: Titleist full line staff player Daisuke Maruyama, who relies upon the Pro V1x golf ball, Pro Titanium 905S driver, Pro Trajectory 904F 3- and 5-woods, Forged 690.CB irons, a Vokey Design Spin Milled approach wedge and prototype lob wedge and a Scotty Cameron Futura Phantom Mallet putter, earned his first career victory after 11 years on the Japan Tour at the Fujisankei Classic. He had a birdie and a bogey for an even-par final round 71 to win by seven shots. Maruyama advanced to second on the Order of Merit with the victory, just behind fellow Titleist full-line staff player S.K. Ho.
